Install SQL client components for Endpoint Protection Manager[^3^]

However, we have been running SQL 2008 R2 for several years now and I figured it best to use the 2008R2 client tools.Good luck with that - we don't have any disks, everything has been installed from ISO files kept on the VMWare hosts, and the fellow that did all that retired a bit over a year ago. We have no SQL install DVDs, I can't find client tools anywhere.

OF all the things during a SEPM install, the SQL client tools are the biggest royal pain - trying to find them and having to install them just to get SEPM to work with SQL - one of the world's biggest database systems.Since we have no install disks, and nothing to create a disk from using an ISO - and if we did I'd have no clue how to find/get/install the client tools - what do we do now?

How To Install Sepm With Sql Server

I think I have read somehwhere you can run a wizard from the current live server to create an installer to run on the new server that will install SEP and make it part of the same cluster/talk to same SQL database.

I think the best way is install SEPM as additional site in DR site (You need a SQL server in DR site for this or you can install SQL server in the same SEPM itself and in the MSL add this DR SEP as priority 2) .So if the main site goes down clients will be able to receive updates form DR site SEPM...

Today was a hectic day. We received new series of HP G5/8th Gen laptop which supports Windows 10 only , & when we tried to installed SEPM 12.x client, it stated that the App is not compatible with this version of windows. That was really an hectic news for us because our SEPM server was based on windows 2003 32bit & there is no straightforward method for in-place upgrade to SEPM 14. It requires minimum 64bit of server window 2008 or above server . Any way we managed to migrate SEPM 12.1.6 to SEPM 14.x on Windows 2012 R2 64bit at a cost of whole day brainstorming.

I switched us to SQL since our SQL environment is fairly robust, we already had the licensing, and appear to have plenty of head room with resources on our current (virtualized) server. Not to say that there were any issues with the built-in DB engine, I just wanted the flexibility of building reports with Crystal Reports that could reference both Endpoint data and Spiceworks data.

This connector supports event collection from the Sybase embedded database only using ODBC. The ODBC data source must be configured on the machine where the SmartConnector is to be installed. When installing Endpoint Protection with the embedded database, the ODBC driver for Adaptive Server Anywhere is provided and installed on the same system as Endpoint Protection. To install the driver on a remote computer, the DLL for the ODBC driver can be found in your Endpoint Protection installation, for example, c:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint protection Manager\ASA\win32\dbodbc9.dll.

Also, we have multiple SEPM servers with Embedded database, can we use this connetor to collect from them all. we also have a few SEPM servers that use SQL database. Can we use the same connector for them too?

Do these affect working of SEPM ? Because, we are changing registry key on the sepm server, and telling it NOT to use local database? Secondly, Can we use the same connector to collect from multiple sepm servers with embedded database?

I am not able to see the SQL Anywhere DSN in 64-bit ODBC. I copied the sepm\win32 folder from a SEPM server, with embedded database. After that, I ran regsvr32 to register the dbodbc16.dll file(which is inside the win32 folder copied above).

Querying the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager embedded database (14.0+). Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)SymantecSymantec Endpoint Protection ManagerASAwin32. Launch dbisqlc.exe. Under Authentication, User ID is: DBA, Password: The original Admin password created when you first installed the SEPM (if the embedded database password has never been changed using the Management Server Configuration Wizard). Choose the dropdown next to action, change it to Connect with an ODBC Data Source.

Click ok. In command prompt window type netstat -aon find /i ':' where is the SQL servers port found in 'SQL Server Configuration Manager' Example command: netstat -aon find /i ':1433'. If results return with a listing of addresses with source and/or destination ports using the SQL server port then the port is open and in use. If result after command is blank the port is not open. Check port configuration and services. Is MSSQL Client Tools installed? If SEPM is installing to a remote MSSQL database the SEPM server will need client tools installed Installing MSSQL Client tools: To install client tools only for SQL Server 2005.

I can't install SEP Manager 14.1 in our windows 2012 R2 server I got an error during the installation. While was installing symantec endpoint production 14.01 , I am getting an error right at the end of the install. I understand that . I should do it with vbs running for symantec installing. however I dont know How can I do it ?,

"Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Installer Information - Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action RunFIPSScript, location: c:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\, command: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\...\FIPSMode.vbs" -install"

That's strange. It sounds like the sysadmin has a sense of ownership of the server if he's insisting that it be installed. It also sounds like he is the AV administrator, but it doesn't sound like he knows what AV exclusions to configure on a web and SQL server. Is that the case?

In ArcGIS Server Manager for the Microsoft .NET Framework, it is possible to create a Web application on a different Web server machine. This remote Web application may then be secured in Manager, with designated roles allowed access to the application. When the user logs in to the Web application, the browser may display an error.By default, a generic error is displayed, except when the browser is running on the Web server hosting the application. In the latter case, the error message displays. The error message may be along these lines:

This error may occur when the user store configured for the ArcGIS Server is in Microsoft SQL Server, though it may also occur with a user store in a custom provider. The cause is that the user store defined in the Manager application is not accessible to the Web application that is running on the remote IIS Web server.Specifically, the problem may be due to the machine name running SQL Server not being specified adequately, or incorrect permissions for the account accessing the SQL Server or custom provider.

After the upgrade, the manager's server certificate is kept, unless you performed a fresh install. If your certificate was created using a weak cryptographic algorithm, such as SHA-1, consider replacing the certificate. Using stronger cryptography ensures compliance with the latest standards, and provides better protection against the latest exploits and attacks. See Upgrade the Deep Security cryptographic algorithm and Replace the Deep Security Manager TLS certificate.

It turns out, the system process (PID 4) uses the port 443. I don't have IIS installed, the services.msc shows (predictably) no Exchange server running, nor WWW-Services, nor IIS. I have no idea how to find out what service uses that port, short of just disabling each service one after the other, and I am not even sure that would help.

Look in the registry for the HTTP service:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HTTP\Parameters\UrlAclInfoThere will be a list of URLs (with the port numbers) which can lead you to which application is running and holding which ports:http:// +:5985/wsman/ --> WinRMhttps:// +:5986/wsman/ --> WinRMhttp:// +:80/Reports/ --> SQL Reporting Serverhttp:// +:80/ReportServer/ --> SQL Reporting Serverhttps:// server_fqdn:443/Reports/ --> SQL Reporting Serverhttps:// server_fqdn:443/ReportsServer/ --> SQL Reporting Server :2869/ --> Simple Service Discovery Protocol service (SSDPSRV) :5357/ --> Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery) :5358/ --> Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery)

This likely happens because I used the allow incoming connections in the network connections window to set up Windows users (without their profiles) to create users for file sharing on the LAN (Samba). This option was left in, creating a VPN server I believe. 2ff7e9595c
